If people were to mention woods, everybody would think about a large forest with high and low mountains stretching around the area. But at the Southern International Botanical Garden (Thung Khai), the majority of the forest here is on a plain, which is Thailand’s one and only for now. There are towers climbing to different levels, which are connected by suspension bridges with a total distance of 175 m
and the height of 18 m. They were built to study the biological properties in different levels of height.
The forest can now be seen up close and the nature of the community of plants or wildlife on tall trees can be observed within the same eye level. Leaves, flowers and fruits can be observed closely. Moreover, you can get really close to wildlife; such as, birds, squirrels, tree shrews, and monkeys. There is no need for you to look upwards or use binoculars anymore. If you look downward, you would be able to clearly see the boundary between the tropical rain forest and the swamp forest.
Know Before You Go
"In the past, this forest was the main source for food for the local villagers. They would search for animals, vegetables and wild fruits."
Recommendation
"Another interesting path to take is the swamp forest observation path which is 1,200 m long."
